KV Tileworks installs custom shower tile for homeowners across Sanford, Lake Mary, Winter Park, and surrounding Central Florida communities. We handle the full scope: waterproofing, substrate prep, layout planning, custom niches and benches, tile setting, grout, and trim.
Tile is not waterproof. The grout is not waterproof. Most shower failures start before the first tile goes down, because the surface behind the tile was not properly prepared.
We use Go Board foam board systems or Schluter KERDI sheet membranes on every shower we build. Both are engineered waterproofing systems, not just cement board with membrane paint. We preslope every shower pan by hand before tiling, seal all corners and seams, and flood-test the pan before any tile touches the substrate.
That prep adds time. It also means the shower holds up. Most of our clients have had at least one bad tile experience before calling us. They know what skipped steps look like when they show up six months later.
Every shower scope is different. Here is what we typically handle on a custom shower build.
We remove the existing tile, backer board, and pan liner. We inspect the studs, slab, and framing before deciding what the new substrate requires.
We install the waterproofing board, build the presloped shower pan by hand, and apply membrane at all corners, seams, and drains before anything else is set.
We plan the tile layout before any mortar is mixed. Where the grout lines land on the back wall, around a niche, or at the floor-to-wall transition changes the entire look of the finished shower.
Recessed niches, built-in benches, corner shelves, and soap ledges are framed and tiled as part of the shower scope. Bench pitch and niche waterproofing are handled correctly from the start.
Grout joint size, grout color, and metal trim choices affect how the finished shower reads. We walk through those options with you before we start. Movement joints at floor-to-wall transitions are included.
We flood-test the shower pan before tile is set. At completion, we review the finished work with you and do not consider the job done until everything meets the standard we set at the estimate.
The tile you choose changes what the job requires. Large-format porcelain slab panels need a flatter substrate, the right thinset, and a careful layout. Smaller mosaic floor tile needs full coverage underneath to prevent cracking. Natural stone like marble or travertine needs proper sealing and consistent grout joint sizing.
We work with suppliers in our trade network and can point you toward materials that fit the project, the budget, and the maintenance expectation. We will also tell you when a tile choice may create an installation or durability issue, so you can decide with the full picture.
Porcelain
Durable, low-maintenance, available in slab format. Most popular for shower walls in Central Florida.
Ceramic
Lighter and more affordable than porcelain. Works well in shower walls with a consistent layout.
Natural Stone
Marble, travertine, limestone. Beautiful and requires proper sealing, consistent joints, and regular maintenance.
Mosaic Floor Tile
Small tile on mesh sheets. More grout lines provide slip resistance. Requires full mortar coverage to hold correctly.
KV Tileworks is based in Sanford and works throughout Central Florida. Here is what we typically see in the areas we work most.
A mix of remodels in established neighborhoods and new builds. The Heathrow and Lake Forest areas often involve large-format slab porcelain on shower walls, which demands exact prep and layout.
Older homes with design-heavy bathrooms. Out-of-square walls and premium materials are common. Layout and substrate prep matter more here because the finished product is under close scrutiny.
Residential remodels and bathroom upgrades across Seminole County. Many projects involve replacing builder-grade showers with custom tile, niches, and frameless glass.
High-end remodels with large-format tile, natural stone accents, and custom shower details. Homeowners in this area want the finished work to match the home, not just check a box.
We work as a tile subcontractor on residential new construction builds. Shower tile, bathroom floors, kitchen backsplashes, and all tile surfaces under one scope.
We serve Seminole, Orange, Volusia, Lake, and Osceola counties. If you are not sure whether your project falls in our range, reach out and we will let you know.
Pricing depends on the scope, materials, substrate condition, and detail level. These are honest ranges based on real projects.
